Total Japanese Experience at Whisky Live Paris 2008
To taste some of the world’s best Japanese malts under one roof, head to this year’s Whisky Live Paris show from 20th to 22nd September. Number One will be there along with Suntory and Nikka, plus whisky enthusiast Ulf Buxrud will be presenting his book on Japanese whisky. Also expect some Japanese appearances in the collectors/VIP area!

Critical acclaim for Karuizawa vintage
As suspected, Karuizawa 1971 Single Malt Cask #6878 has been very well received. Not only because of its advanced age (a 36 year old single cask whisky from Japan is pretty unusual) but also because it showed so little negative impact from the wood. Critical acclaim has followed so if can find a bottle, buy some – this whisky is set to be a future classic. We've sold out so call your local distributor!

Ginkgo Blended Malt named as one of the Whiskies of the Year 2007
Online whisky magazine Whisky Pages, edited by leading whisky authority Gavin Smith, has named Ginkgo the Best Non-Scotch Whisky of the Year 2007 in his annual awards. Smith describes the blended malt as: 'Japanese whisky at its best – with characteristic complexity, balance, and elegance. Delicious!'

Number One whiskies win acclaim from the Malt Maniacs
Two of our whiskies were singled out for their excellence at this year's Malt Maniacs awards. Hanyu 1988 (55.6%, Cask #9501, 352 bottles, finished in Japanese oak) was given the 'Supreme Warped Cask' award for best whisky finished in a special cask and Karuizawa Vintage 1981 (58.1%, OB, Cask #103) was named 'Top Japanese Whisky for 2007'.

Japanese Whisky of the Year
We've received this ultimate accolade from latest edition of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. To quote from Murray: “Word, then, is clearly getting around that Japanese whiskies, in whatever form, are worth finding. And that word gets ever larger and louder spoken when relatively unknown distilleries like Hanyu can produce bottlings of the magnitude King of Diamonds...This is not just good whisky; it is great whisky.” Let’s raise a glass to that!
New Ginkgo blended malt
We are delighted to announce the release of Ginkgo - a unique whisky that blends single malts from the majority of Japan’s distilleries. Expertly blended by Ichiro Akuto, Ginkgo is a limited annual release with 50% available through Number One Drinks Company. Whisky Live London 2007
Number One Drinks Company's inaugural stand at this year's Whisky Live! in London on the 2nd & 3rd March proved a great success with lots of interest from consumers and buyers.
